WORK SAFE THEME ROUND 17 -  2011

Clarence was heavily involved with the WorkSafe theme round action in round 17 in 2011 to help spread the message that the most important reason for staying safe at work isn’t at work at all.

Guest WorkSafe Ambassador and AFL legend Ron Barassi was at Bellerive Oval to watch the match and chat to players and supporters.  “Football and sport in general is vitally important to regional communities across Tasmania,” said Mr Barassi.  Ron stuck around for post game drinks and spoke about the importance of football leagues such as the TSL to the overall success of the AFL league, but also his vision to see Aussie Rules go international.

“It’s my hope that the orange arm bands worn by the players today will ignite conversation in the stands and around the grounds about the real reasons for staying safe at work, and one of those is to be able to come out and enjoy sport with the family on a day like today.”

“The recent formation of partnerships between WorkSafe Tasmania and AFL and Netball Tasmania aim to engage with the estimated 200,000 Tasmanians involved in regional sport in order to elevate the importance of work health and safety and ultimately reduce workplace injuries and fatalities.
